1906 Earthquake and Fire
A few minutes after five o'clock on April 18, 1906 the San Andreas Fault shifted and all hell broke loose. Even before the earth had quit shaking, fire and smoke began to fill the skyline.  California's National Guard and Naval Milita are called upon to protect life and property.
The city and county of San Francisco was left devistated by the San Francisco Earthquake and Fire of  April 18, 1906 and Naval units from the Mare Island Navy Yard, as well as California's Naval Militia, were there to render support.  To learn more click on the California Bear Flag below.
